Working in

MULTIPLES

If your making larger batches, you just need to multiply your numbers. Try to work in multiples of ten. For ten grams of extract, add between 3 and 5 grams of solution. for 100 grams of extract, add between 30 and 50 grams of solution, and so on.
Make sure you are using the appropriate containers when heating your extracts. Low temp ovens, lab heaters, warming mats and micro- waves will all work. Keep in mind that terpenes are slightly flammable, so use caution and common sense when heating. Don’t heat large amounts of terpenes with a flame.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR BLENDING EXTRACTS

Creating your own vapor pen is now extremely easy, with no special machinery or difficult processes needed. Simply follow the instructions below and you will have the perfect extract in no time.

When you receive your solution, you may notice that it has separated, depending on the flavor you picked. This is normal. While the solution and the flavoring sometimes don’t like to mix, once you add your extract, they mix perfectly and will not separate. Make sure that when you begin to use the solution, that you shake or stir the solution bottle before adding the solution to the extract, to make sure you are adding the correct ratio of solution/flavoring.

For demonstration purposes, we will use one gram of extract as an example. You’ll need an inexpensive digital scale, which can be purchased for about $20 if you don’t already have one.

Vapor Pen Instructions Start by weighing out one gram of extract in a device suitable for heating, such as a borosilicate lab beaker or vial. We include one in the sample packs.

Vapor Pen InstructionsThe amount of solution you will need to add will depend on how hard or soft your extract is. If your extract is very solid, you can expect to use approx .5 grams of solution to your one gram of extract. If it is softer, you can use approximately .3 grams. The amount you dilute the extract will vary depending on how thin you want your final product to be, and how thick your initial extract is. We are offering basic guidelines.

Vapor Pens - How to use Once you have determined an approximate amount of solution you will need, and your extract is in the vial, place your vial and extract on the scale and slowly add your solution. Use of an eyedropper is preferred, we include one in the sample pack. If you have never done this before, start by trying out .4 grams of solution. While most liquid is measured in milliliters (ML), we calculate in grams, because it is easier for you to measure in grams with a scale.

Vapor Pens Now that you have your vial, which contains one gram of extract, and about .4 grams of solution, all you need to do is gently heat and stir. You can heat in any method you like, but to give you an estimation of time and temp, you can use a regular lighter, heat for about 3-5 seconds right until you see the solution begin to bubble, and then stir with either the dropper or a suitable rod. That’s it.

Once you have mixed your vapor pen fluid, you’ll need to let it cool to see if you have obtained the desired viscosity, as heating the solution will temporarily make it thinner. Give it 5-10 min. in a cool place. If your liquid is too thick, add a couple more drops of solution and re-heat. If its too thin, add a few drops of extracts and reheat. After a little experimentation, you know how much to add just by eye. Don’t be discouraged if you mess up a little on the first try, it will still work great.

Vapor Pen Instructions If your using the Connoisseur Burner Style pens, you’ll be filling them with about a half of a gram of fluid. This will be easy to do once or twice, but if your doing a hundred times you’ll need a better method. We recommend filling your dropper about a half inch, making a mark on the dropper with a marker at the liquid level, and then dropping that liquid back in the vial while weighing the vial. If your liquid measured .5 grams, your good. You now have your liquid mark. If it was too much liquid weight, redraw your line a little lower and try again. The goal is to mark your dropper with a line that you know is about .5 grams, that way you can fill to your line each time instead of weighing your pens.

Vapor Pens When your ready to fill your Burner, take about a half gram of your final liquid and add it to the outer wick inside the top of the pen. Make sure NOT to add into the small center tube, that is an air return. Doing so will cause your pen to leak the fluid out of the bottom. If your fluid is a little thick, you may need to slightly warm your pen to get the liquid to absorb. Holding it in your hand or gently heating it will do the trick. Its up to you to decide how much to dilute your formula. Too thick and the pen wont smoke well, too thin and you’ll lose potency.

Vapor Pens If your filling your own pen or our line of 5150 disposable tanks. Repeat the above procedure on locating your liquid level in the dropper. For a more advanced method of fillings, check out our Lab Ware Page.

Vapor Pen Instructions For our 5150 units, take off the top mouth piece, and remove the small plug. Our small tank is about .3 grams, and our larger tank is about a gram. Fill through the upper hole, and leave a little room for expansion. Replace the plug, and then the top.

Be careful not to over heat your solution. Not only will it darken your oil, it can evaporate out the solution, and what you thought was the correct mixture will now be too thick. Realize that once you have heated it hot enough to melt together your extract and solution, it stays that hot and will cook your mixture. Slower and less heat is better until you get an eye for it. Just take your time until you have a little experience.
